If you’re selling products in store using the Shopify POS, you might need to capture extra information about those products. In some cases, product variants allow you to seperate out products. But there are also times when having a completely seperate variant, with it’s own price, inventory and sku, leads to more work and ongoing management.
This is especially true if you’re selling one-off or bespoke products that you don’t need to track in as fine a detail. For example, factory seconds or Instead, you might just want to capture some quick details about the product.
In POS, this is especially useful when you are creating custom items for sale, which is common practice.
Using the POS Custom Fields app, you can create a field and allow staff to assign custom data to individual line items within the order.
Once the app is installed, you can create fields in the Shopify admin. These fields will then be available on the Shopify POS device for instore staff to use.
